Week of 5/6/24-5/10/24

Hello Room 11 Ohana!
Happy Boy's Day to our strong boys and Happy Children's Day to all our friends in room 11! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
We are down to the last 4 weeks of school....time has sure flown by.  I am so proud of your children and all the progress they have made thus far! They have become such responsible citizens of our class! The next few weeks will be very busy and we have so much more learning to do!

Did you child share with you that we have completed book #4 of the Magic Tree House series? The children LOVE it and are reading these books on their own! I love seeing them so interested in books and my hope is that they will continue to read over the summer!

Our Curriculum Fair begins this week! Please stop by the library between 2:10-3:30 on May 6th-10th to look at each grade level's PBL (Project Based Learning) project. The first graders have a display called "Malama Our Honu and Monk Seals".  The children made a video, which our amazing Miss Minello put together for us to teach others about how to protect our endangered Monk Seals and threatened Sea Turtles. Check out our video and our song!

Our field trip is coming up next week--May 14th.  We will be going to Tenney Theatre to see a Honolulu Theatre for Youth play called "The Great Race, The Story of the Chinese Zodiac".  Please be sure to wear shoes, bring a home lunch and wear your blue Alvah Scott Shirt if you have one. If you do not, please try to wear a blue shirt. Thank you!
Please bring a home lunch in a disposable bag. We will not be taking any water bottles, so please pack a disposable water bottle, or a can juice for lunch. No sodas please. After the play, we will be walking over to the Capitol Modern to eat lunch on their lawn.  We are so excited to be going on a field trip!  More info to come....

Just a heads up...the last day of school for students is May 30th. The dismissal times will be switched.
May 29th-2:10 dismissal
May 30th-1:15 dismissal

Let's have another wonderful week families!  Let's keep our lines of communication open as always.  Thank you so much for your support!
