Week of 8/28/23-9/1/23

Hello Room 11 Ohana!
I hope you're all having a great weekend and are ready to welcome September!  August flew by so quickly.  Many new and exciting things will be coming up this week!  Please take a look.....

This week, we will be starting Wonders Unit 1 of our Reading program.  For the last 3 weeks, we have been working on the "Smart Start", which is a good Kindergarten review before diving in to grade 1 material.  Beginning this week, your child will bring home a Wonders reader with an assigned story to read. Please have your child practice reading the story with volume and expression. Please take care of our readers and return them to school the following day.  I will be going over book rules in class as well. Thank you!

We will not be starting our formal Spelling program until October. Stay tuned!

We will be starting Library services this week!  Thank you for signing your child's Library contract and returning them so promptly.  Mrs. Saito will be going over our Library rules this week and your child will borrow books the next time they visit the Library. We will be visiting the Library every other Friday!  We are very excited!

We also begin Guidance this week!  Mrs. Isaacs, our new school counselor, will be meeting with our class monthly to teach Guidance lessons. Welcome Mrs. Isaacs!

Let's have another wonderful week families!  Let's keep our lines of communication open as always.  Thank you so much for your support!

Mahalo,
Mrs. Kosaki
