Week of 12/11/23-12/15/23
Hello Room 11 Ohana!
We're down to the last 2 weeks of school before Winter Break and the days are flying by! I hope you all had a fun time at our Winter Wonderland last Friday....we sold a lot of our "Pet Rocks"! Great work boys and girls! We will use the monies earned towards our first grade activities. The last 2 weeks will be full of many activities! Please stay healthy! :)
This week, the children will be choosing a part in the play "The Big Yuca Plant". We read this play in our Wonders readers last week. They will be working in groups to practice their parts in the play and I will be sending home the reader nightly for Homework practice. Your child does not have to memorize their part, just practice reading with volume, fluency and expression. A letter will be sent home on Monday. They will perform the play on Friday, December 15th. They are very excited!
We will receive new Spelling words this week, but there will be NO SPELLING HOMEWORK this week so that the children can practice their parts. We will go over the words for "exposure". There will also be NO SPELLING TEST on Friday.
A few reminders:
• Our class will be making CHRISTMAS SNOWMEN! Please bring in 2 cups of uncooked rice (in a Ziploc bag) labeled with your chid's name, by Monday, December 11. Thank you!
• Grade 1 GINGERBREAD COOKIE MAKING ACTIVITY on Monday, December 18th! Please turn in your green permission slip and $2 by Monday, December 11th. Thank you! A permission slip was sent home last Monday, December 4th.
• Room 11 Christmas Party on Thursday, December 21st! We will be having our class party on the 21st. The children will bring their school lunches (or home lunch) to the classroom and we will eat together! I will provide extra "goodies"! Feel free to bring in treats or goodies on that day! :)
• Wednesday, December 20th (2:10 dismissal), Thursday, December 21st (1:15 dismissal)

Weekly Reminders:
-Please send a labeled water bottle with your child daily. It gets very hot in the day.
-Please check your child's Homework Folders and Planners (sign please) nightly. Bring these back to school daily.
-Thank you for placing your YELLOW name sign in your window as you are driving up to pick up your child. This greatly helps with pick up.
