Week of 12/4/23-12/8/23
Hello Room 11 Ohana!
It's December and the holidays are here! Last week we enjoyed a Christmas Concert by the Aiea Intermediate Band! What a great way to kick off the holiday season! We have some exciting events coming up in the next couple of weeks.
• ALVAH SCOTT'S WINTER WONDERLAND and GINGERBREAD HOUSE ACTIVITY will be held this Friday, December 8th, from 2:15-3:45 in the cafeteria! Our first graders will be selling "Pet Rocks". Please come and support our first graders and the other grades making crafts! We will be using the money earned to support our grade level activities.
• Our class will be making CHRISTMAS SNOWMEN! Please bring in 2 cups of uncooked rice (in a Ziploc bag) labeled with your chid's name, by Monday, December 11. Thank you!
• Grade 1 GINGERBREAD COOKIE MAKING ACTIVITY on Monday, December 18th! Please come and join us for a morning of fun! The first graders will be making gingerbread cookies from 8:30-9:30 in the cafeteria and you are invited to come and help your child!
We are also looking for a few parents to help set up the dough at 8:00 and a few parents to help bag and distribute the cooled cookies (around 10:30am) to our first grade classrooms after our cafeteria manager bakes them for us. A permission slip will be sent home on Monday, December 4th. We would love for you to join us!
• Room 11 Christmas Party on Thursday, December 21st! We will be having our class party on the 21st. The children will bring their school lunches (or home lunch) to the classroom and we will eat together! I will provide extra "goodies"! Feel free to bring in treats or goodies on that day! :)

Weekly Reminders:
-Please send a labeled water bottle with your child daily. It gets very hot in the day.
-Please check your child's Homework Folders and Planners (sign please) nightly. Bring these back to school daily.
-Thank you for placing your YELLOW name sign in your window as you are driving up to pick up your child. This greatly helps with pick up.

-PE days for December: 1, 6, 11, 14, 19
-Wednesday, December 20th (2:10 dismissal), Thursday, December 21st (1:15 dismissal)
-December Book-It is due by January 8, 2024.
-Winter Break from Friday, Dec. 22-Jan. 7. Return to school Jan. 8, 2024.
